Excluded Directories in Roaming Profile still synchronizing?

I've setup a server at home to enable my wife to access her files from our desktop or laptop. Server is running Win2k Server and the two workstaitons (laptop and desktop are XP Pro). I've got everything pretty much running, except when she logs off, it says it's synching her folders (she has like 7 gigs of digital picutres of the kids). It takes about 5 minutes on the laptop (via wifi) to synch.

I setup under Active Directory a Policy to exclude the following directories (in addition to the default folders) Local Settings;Temporary Internet Files;History;Temp;Application Data;My Documents;Desktop;Start Menu

I also setup a Folder Redirection POlicy to have those 4 folders stored on the server(\\Server\Home\%Username%\), thus all her files are stored on the server (easier to add to the backup job). So why are the workstations synching the files in her My Documents (I know that because I see the files in her folder being listed) and probably the other folders as well?

But.....(there's always a but), her folder under Documents and Setting on the workstaiton is only a fraction of the size of the folder on the server (150 megs vs. about 8 gigs in total). So is it really synching? If it's not, that's fine, but how do I speed up the logoff on the laptop (desktop takes about 15 seconds to synch).

Any help would be most appreciated?

I have some working knowledge of Domains from NT4, but this is my first venture into the more recent servers and I've forgoten more than I remember now. 🙁

***EDIT***

One additional note. I've noticed that even when loggin off myor my son's account, it starts the sync process and is still synching my wifes files???
