By the time July 1 rolls around, everything should be in place (mostly) and hopefuly working on my HTPC! Well I could do away with the exclamation points as I've learned to not be too expectant, just optimistically guarded.
My mobo was state of the art (as a all-in-one) for HTPC builds two years ago. Since then, I've only been able to put WinXP 64 on it, and even then, not really perfectly either.
However, with the recent spat of release candidates, hopefully, hopefully! I can get this system on to a Linux platform and never look back.
The releases expected to appear before July 1:
- OpenSUSE 11.0 (last version of Ubuntu and Fedora were let downs)
- Linux 2.6.26 kernel (better scheduler!)
- X.Org 7.4 (okay, this might be a pipe dream)
- RadeonHD 1.2.2 (3D and TV-out -- perhaps)
- WINE 1.0 (wooooooo!)
- ALSA 1.0.17 (And I'll be able to listen to it all in real stereo!)
