Though I'm far from a fan of Exchangepath, I hate to say this. This one is
your fault. Most of these services are very clear: Do NOT ship outside of
the US! They only work in the US and the minute someone asks you to ship out
of the US, you should know that they are using a stolen credit card. Now I
believe that EP shares a good part of the blame because their validation is
obviously bad, considering how many fraudulent cards have been used. They
also refuse to do one very easy thing to solve this problem: send the seller
the cardholder's address. They promised me a few months ago on the phone
that they would do this. Then they stated on AW that they don't even save
the cardholder's address! After we lambasted them for this stupidity, they
froze thousands of accounts while they asked everybody to re-enter their
billing address. Now that they have this, they are still refusing to send
the address to the seller. But this does not excuse the fact that they state
specifically in the terms of use that it is for the US only. Before you use
a service, read the terms. You just learned an expensive lesson. By the way,
don't be surprised if they take back the $500 too.
Incidentally, Auctionwatch and EP are both part of the same parent company, CMGI. Yet yesterday AW announced that after 1/15, they would no longer post auctions with EP as a payment option. This is like Citibank announcing that they would no longer accept Citibank money orders. If even their own sister company doesnt trust them, why should you?
