I have been charged with the duty of administering our server at work running NT Server 4.0 with Backoffice Small Business Server 4.5. As our use of SBS implies, we are a small business using this one server in several capacities: it's our web server, FTP server, Exchange server, and file server.
We are looking for an antivirus software solution that with that is robust in general use and also provides adequate protection for Exchange. I mention this because someone has mentioned that although Microsoft uses Inoculate to protect their servers and workstations, they use another product (which, unfortunately, was not named) for their Exchange servers, as "CAI did a really lousy job on developing Inoculate for Exchange" (for the thread, visit http://www.help.com/cgi-perl/reply/...p;page=1&from=/cat/2/285/287/usenet2.html).
Could you recommend a product that would best suit our needs. If price is an issue (my supervisor will most likely want to keep the cost as cheap as possible; he buys the stuff--you know the story) what would recommend for a low-cost solution... Norton AntiVirus or McAfee VirusScan? Perhaps you could highlight some of the major differences between some of the cheaper solutions like Norton's and McAfee's and more robust solutions like AVP and Inoculate. That is, what makes AVP and Inoculate so good?
Thanks for your input.
