Exchange newbie needs help with email

I have just setup Small Business Server 2003 and am working with Exchange to access my email. I have a local domain set as @mycorp.local but my email goes through @mycorp.com at my hosting company. I have setup pop3 to retreive my email from my host, but seem to have to set myname@mycorp.local as the default email address for incoming mail to be properly forwarded to my local mailbox. But then on my outgoing emails, recipients see the .local return address and can't reply (but can send an email to the .com address for it to be received by me.) If I set the .com address as my default, exchange looks for the .com on the local mailboxes and can't find it. Then all emails get dumped into the systemmailbox. I can't figure out how to get them from there either.

What do I have to do to send and receive email from my .com address and still have them properly routed through my local domain to the local mailbox? Should I start over with a mycorp.com domain as my local domain?

Sounds like a DNS issue.

There needs to be a name server that points to your machine.

I'm not positive, but from what I've experienced, that's what seems wrong.

I don't think that's it because I don't actually have an email server. I just download pop3 from my hosting company using the pop3 connector and have the emails forwarded to my local account. The problem is that if I set the pop3 email as the default, emails don't get forwarded to the local account from the pop3 connector. If I set the local account as the primary email, emails go out fine, come in fine, but they go out with a .local return address instead of the .com address. Then people can't reply.

I fixed it. Found this on the microsoft website. Everything is fine now. However, how do you retreive email from the systemmailbox? I've tried following directions here but systemmailbox askes for a password. I have given full access to Admin but still no dice. Any other ideas?
