Just did another Exchange install. Did the usual domain/forest prep then ran the install onto W2K Server DC. When I go to AD Users and Computers and click on a normal user's properties I don't see any of the exchange properties? Neither is it when I create a new user account does it prompt whether I wish to create an exchange mailbox for the user.

The first time I installed Exchange2K it existed, but afterwards with a reformat and reinstall of both the OS and Exchange, those configurations are not available any more. Is there a fix, or something I missed during the install process? Thx.

BTW, finally did get my emails to travel to/from the internet. If you recall previously I could only send email out onto the internet, but could not receive any emails sent by others from the internet into my LAN.
Mail exchange between the LAN and internet is somewhat slow, longest it took for an email to reach my LAN was 2hrs. Best time was instantly. Net congestion?

Thx.

bump and another thought 4 u guys...

Email exchange between my LAN and the internet seems flaky. Sometimes I send from internet to LAN and can receive it instantly, at other times a few emails have taken as long as 2hrs to reach my exchange server? Is this due to internet congestion? Exchange configuration?

Thx.

Something you might want to check... did you install the message and collaberation component (most important part) during your exchange 2000 installation?

Put the CD back in and see what was installed. What you're reporting is that your user accounts are not mail enabled. If you aren't being prompted with an option to create a new mailbox upon creation of a user account then there is clearly something missing.

Certainly a strange problem. Not one I have seen before. This reaks of Global Catalog issues to me. The fact that the domain admin account can be mailbox enabled suggests this to me, as that is the one account that does not rely on the GC.
I would check your GC and FSMO's. Are they all intact? Use the ntdsutil from the exchange box to ensure that it knows about all the FSMO's in the forest.
