every computer in the office can connect to exchange without any problems.

however one computer gets the error "your microsoft exchange server is unavailable" when i fire it up. a couple times it did manage to connect to the server. i thought it might be a corrupt profile, so i created new ones, that did not work. i tried loggin in as a different user (settings for that user are correct) and that didnt work. i can ping the server, its network name resolves to an IP, and i can tracert to it. all my WINS, gateways, IP settings are correct. This computer is in an office that connects to the exchange server via frame relay, but the frame is running, and no other computers in that office have this problem.

any ideas?

Wow...all the things you've already done are what I was going to suggest. No help, but a bump for 'ya!

I am not familiar with it much, and its a long shot, but have you gotten the proper amount of CALs? Maybe it has all the connections with all the computers and not enough CALs for one more? :)

Like I said, long shot.

i can't remember what it is called because it has been a long time since i used it, but there is a repair utility for outlook. back up your .pst/.pab files on that malfunctioning box and run the repair utility, once you find out what it is! :D

i dont think backing up mail on the workstation is necesary since everything is kept on the exchange server. there is a tool called rpcping to test remote procedural calls from M$ but i havent had the time yet to use it.
