I have a very interesting situation with my exchange server 5.5 which is being used for internet mail by users all on NT4 workstaion.

While all users are able to receive internet mails, only few users are able to send them out. the undelivery message says 'the receiepent name is not recognised'.

Could someone suggest a solution.

Thanks & Regards

Internal or External? Is the Internet Mail Connector Service running? Try stopping system attendant and restarting it? Just as few thoughts at 1:20am as i crack my 10th

Personally, I was wondering if it was 1999... 5.5, jeez.

Hi,
hope you didn't have a hangover.

internal mails are fine. Internet mail service is fine too.

While I am able to send mails to some of the receipents, others bounce back with the message 'the receipent name is not recognised'. for example while I can send mail to a receipent @yahoo.com, it is rejected @rediffmail.com etc.

IMS queues shows the progress of the mail, thereafter proxy server console displays it momentarily.

Also, all mails are being delivered if I use outlook express instead of microsoft outlook which means the proxy server if fine.

could there be something wrong at client end configuration. I am using NT4 WS as clients with microsoft outlook as mail client.

Any thoughts??

regards

I hv been able to identify the problem.

Connections tab under Internet Mail Service has a message delivery option where one needs to specify the host name of the external mail server.
