Hi!!
I have one little question that inwolves Exchange 5.5.... I wanna make sure that one fellow can't send mail to his extern e-mail adress.. The man is quitting the job and i wanna make sure that he don't send important info.. How can i stop that.. I don't wanna close down the whole domain that he has his external mail adress, because it's a .com adress.. But there gotta be a way for me to exclude only his adress...

Please help!!

/MIKE

I believe with that version of exchange you can change his primary smtp address from user@domain.com to user@something.domain.com and it won't transport the mail outbound.

And replace 'something' with the netbios name of the NT domain. This will allow him to send mail internally but not send externally with that version of exchange. I can't be certain that this works but I call using it at one point in the past. Give it a try.

Open up the Exchange Administrator.
Navigate to the Connections object, in the right pane, select Internet Mail Service, and then click the properties button.
Click the Delivery Restrictions Tab. In the reject messages from box, select the list radio button and then click the modify button.
Add in his email address from the address book list that appears.

Make sure to stop and restart the Internet Mail Service so the changes take effect.

Now he cant send any mail to the internet/outside your domain, but he still can internally.

You really don't want to stop him from sending to just one outside email address, you want to stop him from sending to any outside email address. He could easily have ten other hotmail accounts you don't know about. Just nip the whole thing in the bud.

so, there aint any way to stop one person from sending to ONE outside email adress.. That's weird.. I must take contact with MS and check with them, there must be a way..

Btw Thanks for the help you guys!

Regardless of whether there is or not, (and I honestly don't think 5.5 affords you that granular control, you can control by domain, but not by full address) you should stop looking at this in such a technical manner. If you are worried about this employee emailing out critical documents before he leaves, you should block him from emailing any external domain.

But, the main issue is that the employee isn't sure that he is going to quit or not.... And i really wanna know if it is any way to solve this problem... I got a thing in solving problems that i think sould work.... But i guess that there aint a way to solve this one..
