Anyone use some software to manage spam and whatnot on an internal network running Exchange Server? Throw some recommendations at me or something...?

I always have a separate machine with port 25 opened to the world to handle sending/receiving email, spam filtering, and virus checking and then forward the messages on to my Exchange box. (With the Exchange box running a Virus scanner from a different manufacturer.) Some of the programs I've used in the past are Mail Sweeper, GFI Mail Essentials, and Mail Marshal. All of these programs do good jobs and are very configurable for mail scanning.

Spam Assassin is pretty good. It's written in Perl so it will run on a NT box, but you need to install Perl first. I use Guinevere and Spam Assassin to filter junk mail from my GroupWise system and it works pretty well. It's blocking about 25% of the total E-mail traffic. Some spam still gets through, but if I filter more, some messages get filtered that shouldn't.

we use tumbleweed.com here. pretty good.

I've also used GFI mail essentials, not a bad product either.

Just FYI, I'm using Symantec Antivirus and Filtering for Exchange 2k and the spam options leave a lot to be desired.

If the spam blocking is an important part DON'T go for the Symantec product. (Although it is working good for virus protection, and it's nice to have it all in one.)
