we had a customer on Friday who said they were not getting emails from us. we checked and our stuff was fine, turns out they made firewall changes and were blocking our exchange server. they got it fixed and started to get new emails from us.
fast forward to this morning. all the emails that failed while they were blocking us were sent out this morning. My questions is this, i see in the SMTP virtual server properties where it has the time limits on outbound mail, we have the default settings.
first retry 10 min
second retry 10
third 10
subsequent retry 15
delay notification 12 hours
expiration timeout 2 days.
so i don't understand, why the emails were sent out this morning, once they had their firewall fixed to accept our email shouldn't the above settings have kicked in and sent it out?
is the above setting saying that after 15 minutes to restart the outbound failure process?
