Okay. Our company has a server running exchange 2000, windows2k3 SBS. We have a company domain with bellsouth, we use their pop3 and smtp, and use a pop3 connector to retrieve emails, and smtp virtual server to redirect smtp to the bellsouth host.

..my boss is changing our company name. Catch is, we're not doing it in one quick shot, he wants to slowly 'migrate' our name over with clients. SO, they want to be able to send and receive email from both domains. I can easily setup the pop3 connector to retrieve emails from the new domain, however, that still leaves me with 'sending from' the old domain, being that i can't specify more than one smtp server.

Is there anyway to have 2 SMTP servers and from the client select the email from which you want to send from? It's a long shot.. but figured I'd ask. Is there any other solution to do this and keep it within the same server? TIA

It's possible from the same server, but with a catch.

(I could be wrong on this, but I've fought with it a lot and can't figure it out)

The issue is that Outlook, when connected to Exchange Server, doesn't let you choose how you're sending out. If you were to configure the Outlook clients as having 2 pop3 e-mail accounts, you get the drop down box to choose outgoing, but if you are on Exchange, you don't.

Well, if you connect to the Exchange server via POP3 it will work, it's not a problem with the Exchange server itself, but with Outlook in Exchange server mode.

The other way to do it is dual mailboxes as a temporary fix, with one for each domain as the primary outgoing. Then you can use one in Outlook and one in OWA.
