Tomorrow I'm taking this English competency exam that is a requirement for graduation. The time restrictions seem crazy:
11 seconds per question? It takes 5 or 6 seconds just to fill in the stupid bubble on the Scantron.
For the comprehension part they recommend something called "cluster reading" which basically involves only reading every third word.
The ECE in Reading is a timed, standardized, reading test that is divided into two parts: Part I: Vocabulary (15 minutes/80 words/11 seconds per word) and Part II: Comprehension (20 minutes for 7 passages/38 questions/about 2 minutes per passage).
