Soma Radio

Listener-supported, commercial-free, underground/alternative radio broadcasting

I like the Indie Pop Rocks Station. They play some great stuff!

If you're looking for different types of music, download Winamp and listen to some of their stations.

Can't listen to it in the car :)

Don't mind paying the fees for Sirius since I can listen it to it where ever.

to be fair, some of the channels on that site are less of the boom boom boom and more of the waaa waaaa wizzzaa wizzzaa. I like that stuff better :)

http://www.di.fm is another good free channel for electronic music.

Why are you comparing internet only radio to satellite radio that happens to also stream over the net?

I can't stand the mindless boom boom boom boom garbage either. That's why I suggested Indie Pop Rocks, but it won't help your reading skills ;)

Because a few of my friends are all hopped up on sattelite radio. I thought, "Wow, this is great. No commercials, and you can take it anywhere.

But I listened to sattelite radio, and it is basically the same crap that they play on normal radio, but with no commercials. They are paying to not listen to commercials; which is great if that is all you want. But I'm interested in hearing new and creative music, and it seems that sattelite radio has very little to offer to those with this craving.

thats not true....you need to change the channel. Plenty of new music to hear.

my buddy has XM, and its ok. But i wont pay$10 a month for something I can get for free. But XM gives you ball games from the home teams announcer, which is cool.

any sites that focus on streaming sources, whats good, bad, this or that?

Right now I listen to; KROQ a socal fm station, NPR on KCRW a socal fm outlet, or MP3 cdrs I burn.

My son left one of his CDRs in my car and about made me nuts, multiple copies of Anachy Camp on repeat. I hope he enjoys the Joan Baez gospel music I put in his for revenge.

O&R were funny when they first went on the air in NYC. After a couple of years, they had run out of all their funny material and their stuff sank to stupid nonsense. I was happy when they finally got fired for one of their stupid stunts (aside from the fact that their show had very little advertising revenue).

Now that they are on XM, they are probably using their good material over again. Just wait a year or two until they run out of material. Then, you'll get day-after-day of stupidity. [Gee, let's lock a half-naked woman in a 50 gallon drum and pour pig intestines all over her. That is funny - right? NOT.]

Sirius is where it's at. GREAT product. They're going to have ground-breaking programming in the next few months.
