AOL Pictures Redesigned now offers excellent and safe archive of all your digital pictures. All you need to do is signup for a Free AIM account or use the one if you already are a aim member. The main features that i use it for is

1) unlimited upload of images of different formats - no size limits
2) Download all the images that you uploaded in their fullest resolution (no other website offers this)
3) All images are private to you until you share the album with your friends thru sharing feature and even then, only your friends can view the album - so very good privacy.

Give it a try.

i still dont trust anything with the letters "A" "O" and "L" in that specific order. Nor do I trust anyone that endorses any AOL product. :/

Normally I'd shy away from AOL stuff as well, but, I already have AIM and it's apparently free so I may use it. I wonder though, can you hot link to it from forums like this? I need to read the TOS.

Last time I checked my pictures and videos were quite a few gigs. I don't think AOL would like me if I uploaded 10gigs of pictures to their service.

you can upload as many gigs as you want. no limit there. if you use IE plugin, it allows you to upload as many as you want. When you want to download an album, all you do is click on select all and then click Actions->Save to My Computer to get back full res.

Imagestation.com offers this (limited to 5MB in size for each photo?).

i think aol pictures have a limit of 50 mb per jpeg picture versus 5 MB from imagestation.

Just checked imagestation.com. It is not free to download back fullres. here is the fine print

" Premium Members can view and download original images.

This feature is available only to members who have purchased a Premium Membership. Click on the links to the right to learn more or upgrade your account now."

So, still, AOL Pictures is the one which provides this for free

Played around with it for a few minutes earlier. I don't like that I can't seem to view the pics at full res, wonder if my guests can?

If it's like yahoo's photo which has unlimited space also, your guests aren't able to view full res either.

What are you? AOL's b!tch? You've made two posts since you joined and they are both AOL SPAM - and very 'canned' at that. Realize that you are part of a dying company that must change it's strategy or go under.

Cool, uploading right now. Thanks OP! Using Mozilla to upload is great! Keeps adding "browse" fields after each file. Nice!

With the AOL plug-in for IE, you just drop the pics on the box.... makes for easy updates.

AOL is for noobs and fools. Their subscribers are shackled inside their crappy and limiting interface, and paying way too much for the privilidge. I pay less for high speed cable than most AOL people pay for their dialup. Does anyone here honestly use AOL?

I have signed up for AOL several times lately, and also for AOL musicnet or whatever....

so far a freexbox, free ipod shuffle, and am on my way for a $150 home depot shopping card... all those free whatever "scams"... work for me... so far.. and as long as i choose items under $150 in value I dont have to bug anyone to get referals or do any "premium offers" that require anything more than a free trial.

I get netflix, blockbuster, and an aol trial, my 3 "obligations" are over then just wait to get confirmed, the prize is delivered 2 months later, to my door for free, PLUS I get a buttload of movies shipped to me for squat. My local mailbox place doesnt even mind i keep adding letters after my address.. 310a 310b 310c... so the free trials just repeat as i have a "new" address everytime.

so yes I "Use" AOL

Has anybody figured out how to easily share the albums? From the looks of it, its an odd process, and its not easily accessible like say Yahoo photos.

Safe?

Safe from what? And how do you know?

I certainly wouldn't trust any online service with anything that I wouldn't want the entire public to see, because it's very possible that's exactly what might happen.
