Well being the semi-IT guy around here I get presented with the problem.

Someone was just "let go". This someone was a manager and locked many important files with passwords. But never recorded them anywhere, contacting this person is not possible due to the circumstances of the employees termination.

The boss has told me to get the documents open they contain company info that is important to be able to modify, we can get into them read only but we need to be able to change them.

Can anyone recommend a free good Password cracker?

Thanks for any help.

PS I have full authority to do this so there is no morality issue here.

Solution found, thanks for the help

Since you are too lazy to google it yourself, maybe you are also too fvcking lazy to click on this link.

I already did google it, when I clicked on your link I got a page full of purple links, I have already looked at those I was just wondering if there was any program that people recommended.

Sorry for upsetting you day?

here's what the rest of us would do: Step 1. download one and try it. If it works, great. If not, repeat step 1. That would take all of 30 seconds.

Read only, eh? Get DOS, and run the following command:
ATTRIB -r FILENAME.EXTENSION
:)
