Excel sorting problems

I have a data sorting problem with a 1000 row x 6 column spreadsheet. This problem omits or mis-lists entries when I try to do a multiple parameter sort, like alphabetizing by the 1st column after alphabetizing by the second column. I have tried to reenter the data within those cells in case it was corrupted, but no luck. This has happened using Excel 97 and 2000, using several different computers, and over a couple of years.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.:|
