Hey everyone!

I just noticed something with Microsoft Excel XP... if I have 3 different excel files open, if I press the big X on the top of Excel... all of the workbooks close... now, in Word XP... if you have three different documents open and you press the large X... only the current document closes...

just wondering if anyone knows of a way to make excel only close the current excel workbook instead of every one that is open. I've lost a lot of work this way, and would like to prevent this from happening again.

Thanks for any help :)

didn't it come up with a dialog box asking if you want to save worksheet1? then save worksheet2, and so on? (only the ones with changes). Just cancel there if you make that mistake...

Word behaves the same when Tools> Options > View > Windows in Taskbar is unchecked.....then only one item is shown in the taskbar, and when you use the red X, it asks if you want to save each changed doc

There doesn't seem to be a way to make excel act like word...but you could simulate it by just opening a new instance of Excel for every new spreadsheet...try it
