Excel password recovery

I forget the password to an excel file. Is there any way for me to re-set it or recover it?

yea I googled it but the only thing I could find were a bunch of 3rd party apps. Does anybody know how to do it without buying a pice of software to do it?

third party apps are your answer. maybe there's a freeware one out there.

just start punching in letters:
a
aa
aaa
aaaa
aaaaa
aaaaaa
aaaaaaa
aaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaaa
and so on and so forth...and all the possible combinations where a=abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz1234567890_!@#$%^&

gl...it should only take 5-10 years assuming your password in less than 8 letters...
