Excel opens this one file every time I start the program

So this morning I go to start up Excel and it immediately opens a file called PERSONAL.XLS. This file opens regardless of whether I open Excel directly or indirectly by opening up a XLS file (if I do that, it opens two windows, one with the file I selected and one with PERSONAL.XLS). Even weirder is, PERSONAL.XLS is not located in the File menu (recently edited documents), nor is it in the Start-->My Recent Documents folder. It also does not show up in a windows search. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Not in properties.

Did a search for .xls files. Still can't find the culprit.

look in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
(Replace <username> with your login name)

might not come up in a search if you have it as a hidden directory

I'm not sure why it would just all of a sudden show up

do a virus scan ...personal.xls can be used to store macros, etc....
