Hey excel guru's my question is how can one get excel to do stem and leaf plots, i know excel does not have an option for stem and leaf, but is there a way to trick it and do the plots anyway? I have found some site online that can do the plots for you. But my prof. wants to see if we can do it on excel.

Any helpfuly suggestions/comments are welcome hehe

thanks in advance

I think you might need to use macros (using RIGHT and LEFT to extract stems and leaves from your data) and then present it as text after you get it organized.

You are talking about a chart where you make:

38
37
36
10
12
14

Into:

Stem_____Leaf
3________6 7 8
1________0 2 4

Right?

Edit: Oh, how should a correct stem-and-leaf plot display 999 or 341? would they be in the "9" and "3" stems with the numbers 99 and 41 behind them, or would they have 99 and 34 as the stems and 9 and 1 as the leaves?

Fvck this. I'm wasting my life away. There's no way to do it for every scenario, so let's just leave it at that.

depending on what your stem is, if u have all numbers below 100 then u use the 10's place as the stem and the one's place the leaf. but if the number is three digits then u use the first two, or the hundreds and the tens as stem, i think the leaf is always one number
