Excel file opening - read only mode ?

I have a bunch of excel files I like to have other people open as READ only.. ie.. if someone opens the file before me, they'll have master, is there like a /READONLY or something like so that when people open the file (from short cuts) it makes the file read only...

In NT and 2K, you can set the file permissions to read-only for a specific user account or group of accounts. In windows explorer or network neighborhood, browse to the file (or the directory it's in), right-click and choose Properties, then Sharing and click Permissions.

Click on Tools> Protection> Protect sheet
This is on Office 2000 SP1.
You can add a password to protect it, or just a plain protect to prevent any accidental changes.

Yeah, i know those two, I was hoping to force it from the shortcut.. i made a excel shortcut that's excel.exe /r file.xls and place that short cut in their startup folder so everytime they log in, it's read only which is perfect since sometimes they need to edit it and they'll just close it and reopen it when necessary..
