Excel can't open files on Windows Network share

I'm sharing a folder on a windows server 2003 system. I can't open any of the files in Excel for Mac. They open fine on all the windows boxes, but the mac throws up an error. Says the file could not be found. This happens if I open the file from within Excel or if I open the shortcut on the desktop to the file. If I copy the folder to the mac it will open it just fine. What's the issue?

Hrm. Is this Excel 2008 or 2011? Also, is your Mac Active Directory integrated? Is the
Windows server within an AD? If so, are you using your Active Directory account to log into the Mac? Do you have write access to the share through Finder (I'm assuming so, but just asking)?

Normally such an error gets thrown back when the program is running with a different credential set than the mount point, though I don't think that's the case.

You can try to see if the Console is throwing back errors (Applications > Utilities > Console). If so, those errors will probably be more detailed than the generic File Not Found.

Offhand, I can't really think of anything aside from checking the above and maybe seeing if the Console has more errors.
