Excel 2007 on XP problem

Ok the problem is when I click on an excel file excel opens, but not the workbook. Then clicking the office button, right clicking the mouse, and many other things the workbook mysteriously opens.

It's really not a huge problem, but more of an annoyance. Was wondering if any of you windows/office experts have any help for this problem.

Open up Explorer and go to Tools / Folder Options / File Types.

Under XLS or XLSX, click the Advanced button, then select the Open action and hit Edit. You should see the following values:

Use DDE : checked
DDE Message : [open("%1")]
Application : Excel
Topic: system

I encountered this bug on two machines not long after Office 2007 was released.

It stopped happening months ago. I assumed one of the automatic updates fixed it.
