eXcalibur specifies and allows you to pick a proc based on stepping...can you guys explain to me exactly what stepping is and how i can determine what is "better" stepping?

go to overclockersclub and look at their cpu database to see how the steppings of any cpu effect performance and oc ability as for excaliber they are obviously a standup company if they guarentee stepping. thats cool

i bought a processor from newegg, i only got 2.45ghz, i got a processor from excalibur, i got 2.6ghz even though i sure it can go much higher but i just don't have the cooling for it. if you plan to get a processor from excalibur make sure to get yourself a nice thermalright heatsink.

Very vague post. One of the more confusing I've read.

its fairly straight forward, care to elaborate?

You bought "a" processor from Newegg. That is about as vague as possible. What processor did you buy. I assume its under 2.45ghz, but thats about it. You had another unknown processor that you get to 2.6ghz and more with better cooling, but what processor is it and what is your current cooling setup? A nice Thermalright HS, are you referring to an SP94/SP97 or other? Thermalright does have some competitors mind you.

Overall, terrible post. Please be more specific.

they are both mobiles, what else would we be talking about in this thread? and the cooling doesn't matter because i used the same exact cooling in both computers. a nice thermalright HS is based on whatever he is willing to spend, and their competitors don't matter because they currently have the best out there.
