Examples of jingoism?

I came a cross the word and looked up the definition:

belligerent nationalism: zealous patriotism expressing itself especially in hostility toward other countries

Anyone have an example of this?

China parading their tanks and chanting "all hail the mighty motherland" any second they have the opportunity too.

Germany and Japan during WW2.

Pretty much every European country that've set up colonies everywhere else in the world during the expansionist era.

United States in the Phillipines

Thank you for one of the few decent replies 🙂

Yea, actually the term came into effect after the yellow journalism period before the Spanish-American War. If I remember correctly, the USS Maine had a boiler explosion, but the jingoists spun it so that the Spanish attacked the US. This started the Spanish-American War over the Phillipines.

Read some of the posts around here, you'll see some prime examples.

Most recently involving US: Freedom Fries
