240 the best you gonna get is a TN panel. TN panels are really bad with viewing angles, so you know. I personally own LCD panels from sony, benq, samsung, acer, nec and viewsonic and to me they are ever so close (providing i don't move my head while looking at it). Just find the longest warranty and the larger the better...

LCDs are pretty personal matters

if you have a chance, go to a B&M store and examine them side by side - check out the viewing angles

for $240 you will probably settle on a TN 20" or 22" 16x10 panel; most people prefer wide screen
- if you can buy two at time and return one without penalty after running them side-by-side in your home, so much the better

with your current Radeon you will be able to use "centered timings" and if you play stressful games, you can drop the resolution without stretching the image. You will get a smaller image however with the 'black bars' around it.

yeah i play oblivion, doom III, and UT 04. nothing too modern, but not junk. i do love widescreen, and i had a 19 inch ws lg that i thought was fantastic, but it fell down, and went boom. it's kind of an emergency, but i can wait a few days for shipping if the egg, or someone has a really good deal. i read the LCD Thread, and still kind of came out confused.

sorry for being a bit scatterbrained sounding. it hurts to type as i have a broken hand from a boxing match gone wrong, and i am on a laptop to boot.

cliffs:

i had lg 19" lcd ws, and it got knocked off the desk. (unrelated to said boxing)

scraping dough for new monitor, came up with $240 that i can spend.

i know little to nothing about monitors anymore.

read lcd thread and am considering the two on there sub $240.

can ayone tell me if they are good

viewing angle is of littl concern.

i want color and no ghosting

use it for limited movies

general use open office internet

gaming doom 3, ut 2004, oblivion

thanks for the help and patience if you made it this far.

and will be strolling around best buy to get a feel for it tonight.
