Exactly where is the human heart located in the body?

Slightly left to the chest plate....how do I now? I have seen the darn thing! 🙂

If you count down about 5 ribs and move to the center of your left collar bone, you are at the apex of you heart.....

Center of chest being like right where the breast plates end? Like right where you can't feel any more bone/cartiledge?

No, I have this feeling there and I'm wondering if I'm having a slight heart attack or something.

It's almost certainly acid reflux. Unless your left arm is numb, in which case you'd better get to the ER. Acid from your stomach can rise up and irritate the nerves below the heart, and it feels exactly like a heart attack.

Most people dont have one anymore but it is in the center of your chest, slightly towards the left hand.

Dont mistake heartburn for an attack, this is common. If you wake up tommorrow, you are OK. 😉

If this persists, acid reflux is a good bet but this is the new darling of the medical industry so just be sure it just isnt a slight irritation that will go away in a few days or you will be out the big bucks for non necessary meds.

Er? Acid from your stomach rises up and irritates your esophagus.. It has nothing to do with your heart.

You think your stomach acid is just kinda flowing around in your abdomen? lol..

i dunno... mine is gone... my girlfriend ripped it out and stomped on it... :Q 😕... so i posted her naked pictures on the net. 😀 ...jk 😛

. Read my post again, or take an anatomy class or two. The same bundle of nerves is affected by acid, which is why so many people end up in the ER thinking they're dying when all they have is excess acid.

Also there is a major nerve called the vagus nerve that runs down to the heart and digestive organs which can cause sensations in the heart during digestion. If you notice that your digestive tract is moving food around while you have heart pain, then it may be just the vagus nerve zapping the digestive tract. You may notice that the heart pain ceases as soon as the food in your guts settles to rest in a new stage of the digestive tract, then reappears when the food gets moved again to the next stage.

Pay attention to your gut feeling.

If you ate something disagreeable, then your digestive track will try to move the food through faster, which can also cause these kind of sensations in the heart.

Geez. I never claimed to be a doctor, I was just making a (rather silly and harmless, imo) comment.

And you are a doctor?

Typically, heart attacks and acid reflux have very different symptoms. People just freak when they get pains anywhere between their neck and bellybutton.

If it's a sharp pain (poking, acute, whatever), it's highly unlikely that it's related to your heart. If you heart is hurtin', most people describe it as a "crushing" pain--like an elephant sitting on your chest. And yes, there are the RARE occasions where someone presents with a toothache as their only initial symptom. Maybe it was just their time?

So if you're freezing, short-of-breath, tired, radiating pain on the left side, please go the hospital. If your heart has already stopped, you probably have about 6mins before a carrot is smarter than you.

If your tummy hurts, take a tums.

Anyway, if you want good information, do a google search for "heart attack symptom" and pick out the most reliable source. Certainly don't trust anyone here! 😉
