Exactly how little paste should you put on?

When I put my paste on I atleast think it's small enough but my high temps say otherwise.

paste alone will not lower your temperatures.
You need to have proper air flow from the front to the rear of your computer.
If you have no fans blowing the air towards the rear then you need to have a rear exhaust fan on your case!

AS5 as a thermal paste is way over rated!!

Also you need to have a good aftermarket heatsink.
