exact date when your stock sale becomes a long term capital gain?

I bought some shards on 10/6/2005 and want to sell it asap. If I sell it today on 10/6/2006 will it already be considered long term capital gain for tax purposes or will i have to sell on 10/7 or later?

LT is anything you've held for 12 months. looks like your sale will be LT, had you sold it yesterday it would be ST.
