Question EX4100 NAS adding drives

I managed to obtain a WD EX4100 NAS box unpopulated and have commenced an experiment to fit with SSDs instead of HHDs. Despite advice from WD that it won't run SSD I have managed to install and format 3 x 4TB SSDs but can't get it to recognize the SSD in the fourth bay. I think the first three were just detected when I inserted them. Anyone know how to force the EX4100 to recognize a new drive?
