27-year-old Huerta -- who was once featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated -- was in front of a bar in Austin around 2 AM on Saturday morning ... when some other people began fighting. Roger was near the scuffle ... when he saw one of the men involved punch a female who was standing near the ruckus.

Once Huerta sees the woman collapse to the ground -- he instantly tries to confront the attacker saying, "You just punched a f**kin' girl."

Moments later, Huerta takes off his shirt ... slams his hat to the ground ... and rushes after the man.

Chaos ensues and people scramble after the fighters, blocking the camera -- but seconds later ... a shirtless Huerta can be seen finishing his attack on the other man ... who is sprawled out on the street.

People rush in to aid the bloody man on the ground -- who eventually gets off the pavement -- as Huerta walks away from the battle ground.

Austin PD tells TMZ that officers were called to the scene -- but so far, no arrests have been made.

Huerta's manager tells us, "I have not spoken to Roger yet about this incident, but I can say that it's in his nature to be very protective of women."

Damnnnn...the guy who hit the girl was BIG as hell too. Huerta is like 155, lightweight.

Saw the video yesterday. It's a horrible, horrible video and has no business on the internet. Oh wait, most all internet videos are shot by blind retards so it DOES belong on the internet.

I heard Joe Rogan say this morning that this guy grew up in an abusive family and has problems seeing women getting hit.

Good for him. The guy got what he deserved.

I want to be entertained by a fucktard beat down. Not "get the idea". If this is what qualifies as broadcast worthy (thanks TMZ) , we are doomed. It can only get dumber.

Yea, it seemed like there was some past history from his manager's comment of "Roger being very protective of women"

While I appluad him for beating that punks ass. While in Texas he needs to be careful of who he starts a fight with. He might be a bad ass, but even bad asses can't beat a bullet. Though in Austin, the likely hood of someone carrying is less than in say Houston or Ft. Worth.

I miss seeing Huerta fight, he's a warrior. He hasn't been doing so well lately tho, losing 3 of 4, and fighting now for Bellator instead of ufc. wik

What might get Huerta in trouble is that it looks like he was still pounding on the guy after he was already knocked out on the ground. Just my opinion.

Yes while technically you have to stop hurting someone as soon as you are no longer threatened, this is Texas. Here in Commiefornia the guy would probably hauled off to jail by some liberal prosecutor, I dont think that will happen here.

Austin is surprisingly liberal, but I think you have to look at that as a relative term. They are Texans. ;)

Huerta should be OK, if he wasn't arrested on the spot he's 95% clear.

Being arrested[on the spot] is one thing but don't the other guy have to press charges in order for it to stick? If I punched a girl and got knocked the fuck out, I'd be hiding under my covers for a while... shit I'd prob still be unconscious

Dude's a fucking bad ass. I wonder where that one guy that posted on here that he watched a woman get mugged and didn't do anything? I wish he would watch this and see what a real man looks like.
