Kentucky is a horrid state for this event. In almost any other state with the kid not siding with their parents the accused would more or less walk (probably face termination at work if a teacher though).

The parents are really going to screw up their relationship with their kid in the end.

Completely unrelated, but I just remembered that on my way to work this morning, I walked by a school where a school bus just started unloading <8 year olds. The teacher/ assistant (female, young) walks out to greet the kids, and says "good news, I brought my bathing suit today" to the first kid coming out.
