Ex-Senator Admits to Fathering Child With Other Senator's Daughter

Former New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici revealed today that he fathered a son in an extramarital affair with another senator's daughter more than 30 years ago and has kept the secret since then, only telling his own family in the last "several months."

The 80-year-old Republican, who represented New Mexico for more than 30 years, said the mother of his son "made me pledge that we would never reveal that parenthood and I have tried to honor that pledge and so has she."

Domenici wrote that he was worried about the privacy of his son, a 34-year-old Nevada lawyer named Adam Laxalt, as well as the potential impact on Laxalt's mother, Michelle Laxalt, 58. Domenici has eight other children with his wife Nancy.

Michelle Laxalt, the daughter of former U.S. senator and Nevada Gov. Paul Laxalt, is a former government relations consultant and lobbyist. Paul Laxalt was a U.S. senator from Nevada from 1974 to 1987 and served as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Domenici told the newspaper he made the confession because he believed someone else was about to make the story public.

"Rather than have others breach this privacy, I have decided to make this statement today. These circumstances now compel me to reveal this situation," Domenici said.

I hope all Republican New Mexican's are proud of that family that has bilked your state for over 30 years.

Keep voting Republican.

How hard was it in your mind to ignore all the sex scandals on the left so you could type that out?

I got news for you, politicians can't keep it in their pants regardless of party affiliation.

The confession comes just days after it was revealed that Re p. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) has a secret daughter, although the congressman has never been married. He was spotted trading tweets with a young woman during the State of the Union address and his "ilu" signoffs - digital shorthand for I love you - prompted inquiries into the identity of the congressman's tweet mate. Just days later he confessed that the woman - 24 year old Victoria Brink - is his daughter whom he learned about three years ago.

I think you forgot this part of the article

You got to looooove those Family values!

What's amusing was the daughter basically spilled the beans on Larry King in 07

LAXALT: When you're attacking the integrity of someone who has been in public service for his entire lifetime, at great sacrifice, supporting no fewer than eight children and with the many sacrifices and the many contributions Senator Domenici has made, not only to the country, but to New...
KING: But it...
LAXALT: ... the state of New Mexico, I don't think one political appointee who has a chip on his shoulder because he was asked to leave a position that he wasn't offered permanency in to begin with, should ever...
KING: All right...
LAXALT: ... take a crack at the integrity of Pete Domenici...

I love how when a republican does something, it's automatically representative of the whole party, but if a democrat does something, it's just a guy acting on his own and it gets swept under the rug . . .

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

<----looking forward to RNC damage control ;)

I think this is a PR win for the republican party.

Didn't involve buttsex and blowjobs
Didn't involve illegals or "minorities"
Young blond white woman (the wife is a brunette woman, something frowned upon in the republican party)

This occured during the carter administration therefore the cause of the affair is a Jimmy Carter (who in Republican eyes is up there with Roosevelt and Clinton as the source of ALL the nations problems)

Young blond woman pro-lifed a future lawyer and Navy veteran out her christ blessed uterus because Jimmy Carter had "Carter'd" Domenici seed into her.

Being the good person she is (only democrats have deceitful untrustworthy brunnette baby mommas), she protected the senator and her father and raised a good Christian who is not a welfare\illegal immigrant.

give me some time.
I can turn this into a narrative that will ensure Adam Laxalt brings the republican party back to the white house.

By monday I will have the full list of talking points

Sure you do. Look at the gun debate, war on drugs, or any other social issue that you like.

uh.. if you actually look at the poll numbers, I think you'd find vastly more republicans in favor of the drug wars than democrats.

And legislating gun ownership has nothing to do with morality.

Poll numbers? Look at the party. How many times were we told it is our moral duty to do something about Sandy Hook? And that something is to ban a gun. Regulating guns in the eyes of the democrat party absolutely is a moral mission to save us from ourselves.

The drug war is pushed by democrats just like republicans. Obama hasnt backed off closing down medicinal marijuana in California. They havent rolled the war back at all.

It's a pity that this nation's puritanical heritage from some of the first colonists still exist to this day... otherwise this story would have just gotten a "Meh" from just about everyone instead of being another bludgeon to attack someone's politics over.

Hey, he loved family values so much that he not only had eight kids with his wife, he started an extra family on the side! I guess if you can't field your own baseball team you ain't shit.

Ain't nobody hornier than old white Republican Senators; whether it's with a hot young lobbyist or alone is an airport restroom stall they're always on the prowl. (Although in this case, I guess he was a pre-Senator at the time.)

One thing you can say about all male politicians is that no one woman can love them as much as they love themselves.

EDIT:
We don't run as the Party of "Morality and Family Values" ;)
Thus the Democrat Party's unofficial motto: Fulfilling low expectations for almost two hundred years.

I disagree. Every politician basically says if you elect me, I'll work for your interests, even though you won't be able to see me do it. If a man screws over his wife, whom he supposedly loves above all others and with whom he made a solemn covenant before G-d to forsake all others, why would you expect him to not screw you over too whenever there's something in it for him? He doesn't even know you and you expect him to care more about your interests than his own wife's?

Or to put it another way, do you personally know anyone who screws around on his or her spouse but is otherwise Caesar's wife? I certainly don't. I know people who don't screw around but can't be trusted with my money or reputation, but I know no one who screws around and can be trusted with my money or reputation.
