Ex-roommate asked me to ship package- am I being paranoid?

An old roommate of mine asked me to receive a package for him from ebay since the seller refused to ship the package directly to where he lives now, the Czech Republic. He's a good guy but I'll admit to not knowing him very well. He's done me a bunch of favors, including even cooking my meals, so I accepted... But now I have a package sitting here that he claims is a cellphone, but I'm kinda nervous about shipping it internationally without knowing for sure what's inside...

Am I being paranoid, or should I take a peak before shipping?

Edit: opened- iPhone 3g, plus some random accessories. Kinda let down that it's not a brick of cocaine!

Personally, I wouldn't ship something in my name without knowing the contents.

Who knows, maybe its a brick of cocaine. Just tell him the package never arrived and sell it yourself 😀

Maybe he ordered anthrax, knowing that you would peek.

this was just a test that you failed miserably. Even Jason Statham knows that you never open the package. It only leads to trouble.

Do not accept. If he steals/ doesn't pay for it, the feds charge you, not your roomate.

What if there are drugs inside the iphone? What then? Better pry apart the phone just to be sure, you dont want to end up in Guantanamo do you?
