This guy tells it like it is!! I would bet the people replacing Shep will sad to say be prominently supportive of the president regardless of the truth!!

Former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron on Friday mourned Shepard Smith’s abrupt departure from the network, saying who he is temporarily replaced with will “be telling in terms of what happens next” at Fox.

The network plans to fill Smith’s former slot with a rotating roster of hosts. He had announced his sudden exit on air earlier in the day.

“It will be interesting to find out whether these are journalists who tell the truth or whether these are opinion makers who are essentially coddling the president as allies,” Cameron told MSNBC’s Ari Melber.

Cameron joined Fox News alongside Smith when it launched in 1996, and was its chief political correspondent until 2017. He’s since criticized the network’s “partisan misinformation.”

He wasn’t entirely surprised by Smith’s decision, he told Melber.

“It’s a big loss for Fox News channel and it says something about the way in which the cable channel has been for years shrinking the news department and building its right-wing entertainment hosts, ’cause that gets ratings and ratings gets revenue,” Cameron explained. “It’s a real sad day for people who watch Fox News and want accurate information because Shep was somebody you could reliably count on.”

“The executives know that this is a loss,” he added. “When Fox would say or do things that were demonstrably untrue, Shep would be the person that they would point to as a measurement of good journalism.”

“Tell that to Jennifer Griffin whose report just went viral this week,” a Fox News spokesperson said to HuffPost in a statement. “Or Chris Wallace, Bret Baier, Bill Hemmer, Martha MacCallum or Catherine Herridge who have all done outstanding journalism.”

Without Smith’s show, Cameron said, the majority of Fox’s programming is now “predominantly talk, it’s predominantly supportive of a president who is violating all kinds of American values, laws, rules, precedents, etc. ... and the American people need to hear that so they can make good judgments. Otherwise it’s just propaganda, and that’s the stuff of third-world nations, not the one that prides itself as leader of all nations.”

"On August 22, 2017, Cameron announced his retirement from Fox News.[6] In June 2019, he helped to found a progressive news aggregator, Front Page Live, together with Joe Romm, its Editor-in-Chief, Laura Dawn, Sunny Hundal, Helen Stickler, his wife Moira Hopkins, and others.
Cameron serves as Chief Political Correspondent.

How can I possibly doubt what a founder of a progressive news aggregator tells me? Especially with Joe Romm from stink progress as editor-in-chief.

Oh, I didn't realize Fox News was originally a progressive hive of scum and villainy. Thank you @imported_tajmahal for clearing that up for us.

Really informs the public on how the political compass has moved in America since 1997.
I wouldn't want people to think that the source of the post was an independent non-partisan, unbiased journalist.

To be honest with you in this case the source is making no claims except to point out that FOX has two ways to handle this -- bring in replacements that are stastus quo -- support Trump no matter thw coswt or bring in replacements who are journaklist!

Seems pretty straight forward!!

Of course you wouldn't, but you can't do so logically, so you immediately resort to ad hominem attack.

The argument stands that Shep's replacement will be telling to the degree Fox News values journalistic standards.

Many do not have high hopes, in part, based on interactions with viewers like yourself who doesn't seem particularly interested in truth rather than validation.

I did google it. Alwaleed was a substantial shareholder in Fox for two decades but he sold his share almost two years ago- in November, 2017.

Two ways to handle this? Haha... yeah right. They didn't chase Shepard Smith out just to replace him with another man with integrity. This change is mean to REMOVE that integrity from Fox News. Either Shep was going to tow the party line or someone else would. Now, that "someone else" is up to bat.

He quit and did it very graciously.
Now, it's that he was chased out.
How much longer before the narrative changes to him being fired? Middle of this coming week?

Changing the narrative to suit the emotions of the moment is becoming outside of the acceptable norm. Finally.

Don't worry--we will always give Cameron more credit than you.

What about what he said do you believe is inaccurate, regarding his direct experience working with Fox News Network? Can you point to the same kind of knowledge that he has on this topic?

Last I checked, Trump is still president and he still tweets lies at least a 20/day clip, usually contradicting himself. So I disagree with your perception of the state of things.

Isn't that just a simple confirmation bias? or selective perception?

Remember the hurricane map & the sharpie? Even the most ardent Trump supporter knew it was bullshit, in one ear & out the other. No matter how often that has to happen, no matter how much of it they have to ignore, they still believe in Trump. It's a form of mass delusion.

Well seeing as if FOX is an integral part of the Trump admin's Comms Dept. it fits right in with how Trump gets rid of traitors that (used to) work for him.

Hm, that does have me wondering what percentage of their programming is entertainment versus news.
