Particularly interested in weather, as long as it's not too humid and/or hot during the summer.

I am amused. He pretty much says "NO HOT PLACES" and 90% of the replies are states in which the temperature during the summer is extremely horrible.

I'm not from CA, however, Perhaps you should consider Wisconsin or Minnesota. They are usually not so bad in the Summer, Winters are nice and cold (great snomobiling weather). There's plenty of small towns as well as some decent sived cities. The economies in both states are in good shape. Real estate costs are not excessive. Lake Michigan and Superior are huge lakes, but certainly not oceans.

If you require the ocean, then like, perhaps Alaska, Washingon, or Oregon?

Upstate New York.

Most beautiful part of America. Or at least one of the most beautiful.

Thank you. I don't require ocean, but it'd be a nice touch.

How is Idaho?

i moved from from Cali to North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii for over 8 years. loved it.

Rains more and is really humid and warm in the Summer. Incomparablely consistant waves in Hawaii
