It has a mouthpiece that latches on the intestinal wall IIRC. Kinda like a leech, but without the blood sucking. It can be pulled off easily, but the intestines typically don't have enough force/traction.

I hope they don't let that thing go to waste. Fry it up with onions and basil. It will come out much easier next time around.

According to Wikipedia, over 1 billion people have these worms. I find that hard to believe. Edit 2: Just found out that 1.4 billion people are infected worldwide (http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/TOPIC840.HTM)

They may, alarmingly, sometimes migrate forward through the intestinal tract, to be either vomited up or emerging through the nose. More seriously, if they enter the trachea they may cause suffocation.

I believe it. I'll bet that most are in 3rd world countries.

yeah, the sad thing is when you see these malhourished kids and they are skin and bones and yet somehow they also have a pot belly, but it is a belly full of worms in fact.
