Sorry about the ridiculous topic.
But why would a news site post this?! I mean, look at that d00d! With all due respect to the elderly, I think this one starred in Blade II :Q

now be kind, you might look worse at that age 😛

Hell, he looks worse now.

Screw you, I am gorgeous! 🙂 Michael Jackson even invited me to his Neverland bedroom.

So in that context, gorgeous means:

1. You are a boy under the age of 11.
2. You have a pulse.

Gotta admit the dude looks a bit beyond his prime, but that's not even the point. He got a purple heart for what? For getting wounded in the shoulder and spending the next half a year in a hospital probably screwing around with hot-ass nurses? Shouldn't you get rewarded for keeping your ass out of enemy fire, or better yet drawing some blood? Hmm... That's just my 0.2 percent of ten dollars.

Disclaimer: He did fight for his country and deserves utmost respect in either case.

PS: My gramps had a piece of Nazi grenade shrapnel lodged in him that he got near Berlin and I don't remember any newspaper articles being written about him.

Let's see. He fought for his country and that allows you to make ignorant, worthless comments. I'd stand beside him before I ever stood beside you.

In his time and prime he was probably IronMan....thank him and his generation for your freedom....If it wasen't for his generation your parents might have been bars of soap or lamp shades....................😉

the purple heart is an award for getting wounded in service, iirc.... i don't see anything inconsistent here.

Was your gramps a Russian?

EDIT: from the article:

Deyoe was wounded and evacuated on the second day of the battle. Three days later, he was recovering on a hospital ship when the Marines captured Mount Suribachi and hoisted the American flag on Feb. 23, a scene immortalized by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.

Incorrect. To my knowledge, the famous Iwo Jima-picture was taken after the battle had subsided. The Marines did plant a flag on top of Mount Suribachi after they reached it, but it was a small flag and it was done under enemy fire. There was no photographers nearby. It was later (after the fighting in the mountain was subsided)replaced by a bigger flag, and that flag ended up in the famous picture.

you stupid fvck, I would like to see how you would look after 5 minutes on Iwo Jima during world war II. The guy is 82 and survived one of the bloddiest battles of the war. You definetly get the dumbass of the week award.

Yet I bet he could still lay the smack down on you.

VDboy:

How do you expect to look when your over 80 years old? Also, I'd like to see you charge an enemy position during our next war, lets see how long a nerd wuss like you would last. Hopefully we give a medal to whoever shoots you first, now that would be a deserved award!

You are correct. I believe it was only two soldiers that raised the flag during the battle, the picture and statue are of the pose done for the press later.
