Nothing in my computer is overclocked, my ram is set to stock timings, but I still get crazy artifacts (like black ground and blue shadows) all over the game. Help thanks.
EDIT: And yes, before anyone asks, I have the latest drivers for my motherboard and video card.
do you have HDR rendering on?
I got artifacts with HDR on for some reason.
It worked fine on my 6800 limited edition, but once I changed it to a vanilla 6800, it stopped working and would cause mass artifacts.
Sounds like a wonky card that's running hot. Try lowering clockspeed (below stock) and see if you still get artifacts.
I owned a 9800 Pro that would artifact in Doom3 at stock speeds; getting a VGA Silencer 3 cleared this up. Sometimes cards that aren't 100% stable at stock settings seem to trickle through and get into consumers' hands.
You can try a couple things to see if it's overheating: try Far Cry when you first boot up your computer, and try pointing a room fan at your case when it's open to see if you can get it to not artifact in games.
It's either drivers or the card, but for artifacts I'd suspect the card...
I had the same problem going straight to the 1.3 patch, uninstalled, reinstalled, added 1.1 then 1.3 problem solved. If you added this on top of 1.1 then try what Jiffy suggests.
