Evolution Question

So, during my short life span, I have had the privilege of seeing many creatures.

My question is how anyone that observes the lower order primates cannot agree that there are remarkable similarities between us. (Homo Sapiens and said primates)

I am not trying to bash anyone's beliefs, but to not see analogous behavior between homo sapiens and other primates is simply being blinded.

I first noticed this when observing Silverback Gorillas, at the zoo in person. It was reinforced by multiple documentaries with footage showing how similar we really are.

Flamebait, or P&N material, whatever. I am just wondering how someone cannot see the same things I am seeing and trying to grossly appreciate it as well.

i'm an atheist and do not doubt evolution, but to look at one animal, and say hey, this also looks like another, is not very scientific. So i would not use this as my end all argument for evolution. there is a much greater amount of actual supporting evidence then this superficial similarities.

The thing about Creationism is that it is unfalsifiable. You see the obvious evolutionary similarities, but the creationist already has his mind made up. So, he sees "common design" or a "common creator." After all, why couldn't God create the animals similarly?

Well, God certainly could have, but that doesn't explain the mountains of evidence that indicate that the species diversified on their own, according to well-established processes. What they fail to realize is that evolutionary theory isn't about proving that there is no God. God simply cannot be take into account in a scientific explanation. It isn't that science assumes God doesn't exist, but that an understanding of God isn't necessary to make meaningful predictions. For that matter, no such understanding of God's means of allegedly interacting with the world is possible, and so propositions of God's intervention are ignored by necessity.

The resolute Creationists will not be deterred, however. And since there is literally no evidence to contravene the proposition "God did it," they can hold their position firmly and rationalize literally anything.

You're right. It's obvious that we are more closely related to other apes than to cats, birds, and crabs, just as our fossil record of life on earth predicts. Many people are just not scientifically minded-- or not taught science well enough-- to see that

Gorillas aren't even the most similar, as I'm sure you are aware. Have you seen Bonobo chimpanzees walking upright? Some folks find it kinda creepy.

As another counter-point to your idea though, the bounds of human ignorance are limitless. Witness when one human culture encounters another and declares them sub-human. In recent times, both European explorers and relatively primitive South American tribesman have come to the same conclusion about the other.
