Lots of wonderful info in this post.

The EVO definitely takes to mods better than the STI does, and generating big, dyno proven horsepower is easier. The 4g63 is an amazing piece of engineering for the price, both in its potential and its stoutness. Intercooler placement, is of course, far better on the EVO.

Handling and weight, the EVO wins as well. It has better handling feel too, not just cornering capabilities. Turn in is crisper, and it communicates far better with the driver. Availability of aftermarket performance parts, both are good, but the EVO has the edge.

As a company, be careful of both. They both suck, but Mitsu, at this point, is definitely in a worse off place.
I don't know any engines whose blocks are made of steel. Cast iron, maybe...

Subaru is about as rock solid as you can get apart from Toyota/Honda/Nissan ....

From the racing/mod standpoint. Sorry for the confusion.
Ahh, I see. :)

get the EVO if you live nearby a good DSM shop, love to learn about a car and the engineering behind it, are part of a DSM related community (DSMtalk.com, EvolutionM.net), and plan on owning the car with ZERO support from the hellspawn which is called Mitsubishi Motors of America.

Id like to think of the EVO as Hellboy. So much good and power born from so much hate and evil.

Me neither. I've yet to hear of a production car with a steel block. Where did that come from?
