EVO 4G has ruined me

I didn't like the physical size of the thing so I tried to switch back to the Hero and now I can't. I am not used to the small low resolution screen anymore. So I am stuck with EVO 4G for awhile.

Use this phone at your own risk!

I would use at my own risk if my local Sprint store would ever get the phone in... Ordered 6/17.

I guess I am spared that inconvenience for a while. 4G Sprint is currently only in 15 states, and in those, only major metro areas.

Very little in the West - amazing - nothing in California at all. I would say the market does not yet justify an abundance of hardware.

I love mine. The size isn't really an issue at all, which surprised me. If I had the option I would likely go with something in the Incredibles size range but I'm sticking with Sprint for size reasons and I won't touch a Samsung cell phone.

So...You knew you were wanting a small phone, saw it in the store and how "big" it was? (Which isn't not and expect phones to get bigger) Or you ordered it blindly knowing it had a 4.3in screen. Either way it's your fault. Real nice life guy!

I wanted one but Sprint won't give me a discount on it because I haven't fulfilled my current contractual obligations yet. After reading about battery life I decided it's not for me.

I guess I'll wait another year or two for a touch screen smart phone that I can charge once every 24 hours with moderate to heavy use and still not see it drop below 30% charge like my Curve.

Yea I was in the same boat; both the droid X and Samsung Galaxy have better battery life; and with the droid they (both verizon and moto) are providing 'official' 1900 battery upgrades (but the stock battery seems to last 16 to 24 hours).
-
I'm leaning towards the droid X since it is more durable than the Samsung (the samsung is probably better for media but the droid is probably better for phone calls/data and has a tougher screen (gorilla glass)).
-
Of course the technical change at this point is accelerating so 6 to 12 months 300+ dpi and super amoled screens will likely be standard as well as dual core and 2ghz phones. Unfortunately battery technology is not keeping pace.

The evo's battery life is much better with the latest update, I must say. I still keep gtalk turned off, but I might try it next week at work and see how much battery life I get.

The size is large, but awesome. I couldn't go back to a smaller phone now.

4G is unofficially available in other metro areas, by the way. DC isn't listed, but I get coverage at the office in Northern VA, and one bar at night at home.

I noticed the update imporved the battery life too. I just pulled ~26 hours with moderate use (4G and WiFi off) on one charge.

loving my evo and I manage to get longer battery life thanks to some custom roms after I had it rooted :). So far its definitely better with the changes I did.

Root+OC Widget will give great battery life. Of course, the more you run the radios the faster it is going to drain. But with this combo I can get 24hrs of moderate use and 12hrs of heavy use. Which works out well because I work 12hr shifts.

Umm you can use the phone without 4G and there is 4G in a couple places in Cali already. It's here in LA in certain areas.
