Got a set of earbuds with I think a laptop or something, I believe they're made by Creative. They have excellent sound quality and all, but there's a very glaring design flaw... they have this metal ring around the driver and the ear stem. Obviously whoever designed them was not thinking about carpeted environments in the middle of winter, especially while on rolley-chairs. God forbid I adjust my seating position lest I get a static shock IN the ear canal!

Oh yeah - obligatory <img src=...905.html?tag=pdtl-list[/L]

Do they seriously give shocks? I've never heard anyone complain about this problem and these are pretty popular earphones.

I get the same thing with the CX300s I just bought; very annoying.

Wow! Glad it's not just me! At first I thought they were defective, but I realized after discharging myself on the door handle daily (wow, that sounds perverse!) that it might be static. Plastic chair wheels + carpet = static.

I'm just hoping the static isn't going to destroy the drivers over time.

Is it really that bad/noticeable?
Kidding aside, I've never had that happen to me.

I was folding my laundry the other day, with my headphones on and I had to stop the music and take them off it started to hurt so bad. I guess the Bounce didn't do its job. :(

The headphones I have from my Meizu Miniplayer give off a good static shock when you move around because the whole plates are metal. If you don't have those damned pads on them, you're screwed hardcore.

Weird, i have the same ones and I've never noticed.

People probably alraeyd know this but the best way to get rid of static charge in an everyday setting is to just grab your keys and touch a doorknob w/ it. Problem solved!

I've never heard that suggestion before.

Do what I do and kick something metal with your feet, preferably the soles. You can't even feel the shock.

It's also fun to kick something. =D
