I remember hearing years ago that there was some referance to a very old civilization in a Indian (east indian that is) book.
It spoke of flying devices among other things.
Anyone here ever read "Chariots of the God"?
There were some interesting thoughts in there about this sort of thing as well....

You gotta like how they carbon dated the rock at 120 Million years old, and decided that it was carved at the same time it was created.

Hey guyes, go out in your back yard and dig up a rock and carve something on. Then get it carbon dated and see if you can fool the press in to relesing a story saying that you found a rock 200 milions years old, and indicate that as the age of the carving.

if nobody gets it, the story is what we call yellow journalism - it's a fake.

There's a book by Graham Hancock called Fingerprints of the Gods, which while I doubt is correct, is still kind of cool in that there was supposedly a map in the 1600's (?) that showed the continent of Antarctica as it looks without ice. *shrug* Been a while since I read it; there's a lot more.

I'm not really ready to completely rule out anything, cause a lot of other times, when supposedly learned men have categorically denied something to be possible, people later proved them wrong.

NukemAll is basically correct.

A lot of scientists view anything coming out of china now with grave doubts due to the deliberate frauds perpetrated by the Chinese scientists lately.

The age was verified because of a fossil shell in the dolomite. LOL... the rock formed then and it doesn't mean the carvings were made then. Dolomite is a sedimentary rock.

Fraud or legit? Who knows, one thing is for sure: there weren't any humans then. Is this now proof of aliens? More like proof of fraud.

Yeah, I saw the movie as well, and when examining the pictographs of what appear to be men with space suits in flying devices shooting flame and taking into account the extremely large animal and insect images that can only be seen from the air and their proximity to what appears to be multiple runways on that mountain face along with some of the other postulations made, I'm inclined to think either the ancients had far more vivid imaginations than their primitive technology could account for or they had some incredible experiences ;)

How is this possible when it is generally agreed that the Earth is about 6000 years old? ;)

Where in the world did you hear that? Rocks have been found that have been dated at over 2.5 billion years old.

If you believe in creation, as I do (I'm just saying this, I don't want to start a debate), it took 7,000 years to create the Earth (1 Bible day = 1,000 of our years), so it has to be far, far older than 6,000 years.

Well, I'm not convinced that there was an advanced civilization 120,000,000 years ago, but there are enough things popping up to make one wonder about highly advanced civilizations maybe 6,000- 10,000 years ago, before this earth was created (j/k).

Furthermore, perhaps some of that knowledge survivied for awhile into the civilizations that we have clearly verified. For example, rock structures have been found amongst the (I think) Mayan or Incan ruins that seem to have been cut or fitted with a laser like device, as best as we can tell.

Not enough evidence (at least that we know about) to prove anything, but it is enough to warrant keeping an open mind about the history of civilization as we thought that we knew it.

I don't discount a reality behind the Atlantis, Babel, and Deluge "myths."
