EVGA video cards insane prices 60% off

I would say most if not all G86 and G92 parts in this sale are cause for concern and should be avoided, if you put any merit to the Inq's stories about all Nvidia chips being bad LOL.

I myself have a G92 8800GTS and am just waiting for it to go tits-up one day

UPDATE: This explains why Nvidia changing their underfill material is such a problem:

This is emblematic of the 'pants are on fire' school of engineering,

I guess these could be used as 'spares' when your old G92's kick the bucket 😉

The author based his conclusion on Nvidia changing the pads to lead free solder, and this is somehow supposed to mean that G92 parts are bad.

All this nv stuff started out with hp laptops dying related to nv parts going bad, and nv not admitting anything was wrong with their chips.

Then they started paying hp for laptop replacements, taking care of these problems, but at the same time, they change the materials on end of life parts, and now changing the materials on desktop chips. All, while saying this is normal.

These are major, expensive changes that can cause problems in a new revision, but the risk outweighs producing more problem parts.

best deal in sli

thats a mistake i think. if you click it its $119.99.

so the price on the page seems wrong.

its even in the wrong order price wise.

so the 8800GT for 109 is the cheapest. plus that 8800GT for 109 is the dual slot one so even better.

These prices don't impress me, primarily because they're old parts. I guess it would be a good deal for someone looking for older cards to complete an SLI setup. I thought the 8800 Ultra for $199 was interesting.

Dont get suckered into that 1+1yr warranty $109 8800GT (TR), pay the extra $10 for the $119 superclock (A1) -the extra $10 alone is worth the lifetime warranty. The extra speed is a bonus.. oh yeah- and FREE Enemy Territory: Quake Wars with the A1 too!

"Limited Lifetime Warranty is for all retail Graphics Card and Mainboard products ending in the part numbers A1, A3, AR, AX, BR*, BX*, DR, DX, FR, FX, SG, SL, or S2."

I've had two 8800 GT's die within a week of each other. I wasn't pleased, and decided to go with ATI this time. I picked up a new VisionTek 4870 this week, and it's been fantastic so far.

I think newegg has AR prices close to these nowdays. I think wait until Nvidia intro the next gen card beginning of next year, the prices will really fall off the cliff.

Their "next gen" cards just came out. Prices on 8X00 videocards have dropped a lot in the past two months. I'm not saying these are great prices but a search here or at fatwallet will show a lot of deals. Early next year most of these older cards will have been sold off so don't expect deals on these (8X00) type of cards.

Those looking for a slighty slower card can find a 384MB evga 8800gs for $60 after a $40 mir here:

256MB 8800GT for $89 isn't bad for someone who just needs something good for gaming on the cheap.
