EVGA video BIOS flashing procedure

I was hoping to get a card with the latest since I waited a while to buy but that didn't happen so I need to flash the card. Everywhere I look says you need to flash in DOS with NVflash & use 2 cards to watch process but the EVGA site just says do it in windows. Has anyone done it this way? I've never flashed a vid card & I've allways done motherboards from floppy. I understand that there are risks no matter how it's done & flashing mb BIOS from OS is popular now with some, just checking for experience before I dive in. Card is the vanilla 8800gt. Thanks.

I updated the bios on my EVGA 8800GT and had no problems using EVGA's method. Just don't have anything else running.

Best to do in safe mode then?
