EVGA Superclocked or no?

I got an EVGA 7800GTX a few weeks ago and intend to use their stepup program to get a 7900GTX. I don't know whether to pick the superclocked version or not. I really want a super-fast video card that I can run games like FEAR on at high settings with great performance. So the Superclocked is the fastest - this I know.

However, is it worth $70? And more importantly, is it worth the extra weeks it'll take to get it? If you're familiar at all with the program, you know that they give you a spot in line. I'm currently #330-something for the Superclock, but I would only be #43 if I got the normal card. I've only dropped about 50 spots on the list in the last four weeks. Is it worth the longer wait?

Don't get me wrong - the 7800GTX looks great, and I'm really happy with its performance, but I just don't want to be stuck waiting for this stupid card until the 8000 series comes out, you know?

I would just get the non-overclocked version, as it won't be worth $70.

although, that BFG isn't clocked as fast as the superclocked 7900GTX, it still shows that it's not worth the $70 to get the superclocked version. Especially if you're waiting on the Geforce 8 series.

i'd say get 2 7900 gt

7900 gt sli > 7900 gtx or x1900 xtx in most situations
and price is similar to getting a superclocked version

earlier this week, i saw the 7900 gt can be had for under 250 in circuitcity? (found in hotdeals section)

No it won't be worth the wait as I had waited for almost two months only to move from #212 to #161. I just changed it to the a non-SC version and saved $80. It also puts me in the #45 position which is hell lot better than #161.

yes, overclocking will probably get you close to that of the superclock anyway, and it can be done sefely with coolbits alone (no volt mods). I haven't looked into 7900gtx OC results, so I can't say that for sure, but I'd go for the gtx vanilla.

7900 GT SLI is really dumb, IMO. The 7900 GTX is almost like 7900 GT SLI and is EASIER TO SELL once you move on to G80 or R600
