Just wondering if this is normal... I'm planning on doing the step uo program to the KO version of the 7800GTX from my regular GTXes. So, I pulled eVGA's site to make sure the KO's were in stock, and they are listed as in stock. However, when I went through the Step-Up process, the KO's are listed as out of stock. Is this the normal way that Step-Up works..? I imagine the eVGA probably kind of shot themselves in the foot with releasing the KO so soon after the 7800GTX, since for what I paid for my "vanilla" GTXes, it is literally a no-brainer to do the Step-Up. It comes out be an almost free upgrade.

that happened to me with my step up to the 7800gtx.

apparently they have a certain number of cards allocated for the step up program. they would not, for me anyway, ship anything from their "retail" stock allocation nor would they do an advanced rma on the card.

i think it took about a week for me. don't send in the card until you get the notification that they have them available for step up. they'll email ya.

I wasn't going to... I assume that they assign you a number or something anyway, right? I was just kind of surprised that they didn't even send some sort of automated "we received your request" email.

well, i think i did get a confirming email. i know it at least assigned me a number because i used it to contact evga and find out the specifics.

try using the same s/n to do a step up and see if its already being processed.

if the item is on backorder, you will be placed into a queue. when the cards are available, they will email you to continue the the step up process. as long as you are in the queue, you will eventually get your card.

Return to Step-Up Submission Form

I'm not really impatient, as I have a nice video card set up already. I actually hope I'll be able to send one card in at a time, so I'm not completely out of a video card while I wait on them to get shipped.

Thanks for your help.
