EVGA screwed me?

I bought my first 7800GT back in November when there was a $20 rebate on it.

I purchased the card from Monarch and sent in the rebate form as soon as I got the card along with my invoice.

I hadnt heard anything from EVGA until today, 3 months later and all I got was a postcard that reads:

Dear Customer,

Thanks you for participating in this promotion. Unfortunately we could not honor your request due to the following reasons:

$10 eVGA Rebate - Invalid purchase location.

WTF? Why was the rebate advertised on Monarch's website? Hell, I even printed the rebate form off the Monarch website. And why the hell does it say my rebate was for $10 when it was for $20???

I cant believe this. MY first bad experience with eVGA!? I tried calling the number on the postcard and on the website, but I couldnt even get someone to pick up. I had the operator transfer me to customer service and it just rang and rang and rang....

Does anyone who's dealt with Mario have his e-mail address? Could anyone PM it to me?

maybe evga service is going down while xfx is going up? More and more often, i have read abotu people complaining about evga customer service. Mabye EVGA will be the new XFX and vice versa.

Do you have the original PDF of the rebate form? If not, contact Monarch- they should keep these things on file. I assume you have a copy of, or your original invoice as well? What about the UPC code (original, or copy if the rebate requested the original)? Even if you do not have the latter two items, you still may be able to get your rebate.

eVGA has acknowledged that it received your rebate, so you should have no problem with getting them to admit that they have indeed seen your UPC code and invoice. Provided you have the PDF of the rebate form, you can then read them the form, rebate code ID #, and terms. Provided you do indeed meet all of the qualifications, there is no reason for them to deny you the rebate. You may be asked to (re)send the rebate form to confirm. Keep calling- I am sure you will eventually speak to a live operator.

If you meet all of the qualifications and they still try to screw you, file a complaint to the BBB. I encountered a similar situation with a rebate on an LCD monitor from Newegg; the rebate was processed by theexpressgroup (TEG). 12 weeks after sending in my rebate, TEG sent me an email telling me that I was due to receive a check for $30- the rebate, however, was for $180. To make a long story short, multiple phone calls and re-sending the rebate PDF resulted in eventual success.

ALWAYS double-check every rebate form, and make sure you follow the instructions listed to the T. Then, make copies of everything you are about to send, and keep a copy of the rebate PDF on file.

Call Customer Service and let them know of your situation.

If (CS) can't or won't help you, ask to speak to Joe Darwin, Director of Technical Marketing. He should be able to assist you.

Is why I hate rebates. I sent in one $75.00 Canadian for a benq monitor. 3 months later I am thinking - I cut up my box and spent a couple dollars shipping for nothing and it actually came! I usually only take the instant type rebates now.

Yeah, it seems like rebates take AT LEAST 10 weeks, more like 12, to arrive. Same happened to me with my Samsung laser printer. 3 months later, my check for $60 came. At least it DID come though.

I forgot to mention that I indeed sent my original UPC in! :|

I'm gonna shoot off an e-mail to eVGA tonight and try to call again tomorrow. This is really annoying. This is also why I never trust mail-in rebates. Thank GOD my second 7800GT had an instant rebate.

Just as a heads up, my last BenQ product i purchased with a rebate took about 4 months to arrive...so you got another month before you panic 😉

I hate MIRs too, which is why i never purchase something with a MIR unless the up front price is a good deal even w/o rebate.
